I saw Dr. Chung to have an implant removal surgery. My first breast augmentation, that was performed by a different surgeon, had so many complications and I just wanted the implants removed. I immediately felt better after my surgery and all of the pain and discomfort that I was dealing with was gone. A year after my removal I decided to try for another breast augmentation and I knew I wanted to schedule it with Dr.Chung. She had done such an amazing job with my first surgery and I trust her judgment and suggestions. We decided to choose a different brand of implant, size and placement. I’ve never had plastic surgery before, and I was on the fence about getting this procedure. I made an appointment to go in and consult with Dr. Chang. I live in Snohomish County but felt like I had to go see her and talk about my case (her offices are in Puyallup). On the day of my appointment, I felt a little anxious. I filled out several forms and answered all questions to the best of my knowledge. Dr Chang answered all of my concerns and made me feel like it was something that I could do. I think it was a great idea to talk with her. I made the decision to get the procedure that day while I was there. I talked to her staff and set up all of my appointments and surgery date. My surgery went very well and was without any problems. I feel fully healed; however, I still have another appointment a month from now, so I think I’m a little ahead in my recovery. My total surgery time was about 30 minutes. I had a local and was awake for the procedure but did not experience any discomfort. I felt at ease because they tuned to my favorite radio station, and I listened to a few tunes. I am very happy with the result of the surgery, it looks great! I would recommend Dr. Chang to anyone looking for plastic surgery. She is a wonderful doctor, and I can tell that she really wants what is best for all of her patients. Thank you, C.J. Lynn Chang M.D.Alfredo GJuly 18, 2022My wife and I researched many surgeons and when we found Dr. Chung’s office we were both happy with the staff and overall experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Chung.Maria AJune 22, 2022Dr. Chung was recommended to me after I had "botched" situation with another surgeon. She was so amazing. Listened to all my concerns (where the original surgeon was so condescending and dismissive) Dr Chung saw exactly what my concern was so I didn't feel crazy and she let me know I was not crazy! At the end of the day, one of my implants was deflated, so I HAD to get my "botched" situation fixed. She was so nice to me and did an amazing job on my fix. My revision was a huge success and my scars look better in 3 months than my other scars did after a year!! I would 100% recommend Dr. Chung and her staff! Love, Love Love her!!Alma VMay 20, 2022This being my first surgery ever, and being such a good experience, it’s definitely a bonus. Dr. Chung, and staff are a very professional and friendly. I am very much pleased with the resultsIntellectual799688January 8, 202236yo Mother of 2 - Had Tummy Tuck with Muscle Repair and Flank Lipo Hi! Just want to give background about my body & habits before I dive into my review & results. I’m a 36 mother of 2. I’ve always been a tiny person. Before I had my first child, I weighed 95 pounds (I’m 4’11”). With my first pregnancy, I gained almost double my weight. As I reached 8 cm, I had to have an emergency C-section. As you can imagine, that left me with lots of stretch marks, loose skin, and also a pooch in my mid section due to the C-section scar. I’ve been working out for about 10 years now. I work out about 6 days a week. I’m an avid runner and hiker. I like to lift weights. I’m a pretty healthier eater. I try my best to eat lots of meats & veggies, and try to stay away from fast food or fried foods. I went in to see Dr. Chung for a consultation and just knew at point that I would select her as my doctor. She is sweet and friendly, very down to earth. She is super informative. I didn’t feel pressured at all. I told her exactly what I wanted, and she told me the truth about what I would be able to achieve with surgery. There was no BS in our meeting, which I appreciated. I went in for my surgery on 9/22/21. I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair, and flank lipo. Everything went great! I remember talking to the anesthesiologist one minute, and then waking up from surgery the next. My SO picked me up and we went home. Recovery was great! Dr. Chung’s team was great (super sweet team). I had all my meds, and a detailed after care plan. I was up and walking on day 2. Day 3 was probably the most painful. By the 3rd week, i was finally able to stand straight. I was able to resume light workouts on week 8. Fast forward to 11/25/21 (gym pic). This is me without doing any sort of abs workouts. I was finally able to start ab workouts again on my 3 month mark. I LOVE my tummy tuck! I love that I can workout at the gym and not be self conscious about my loose skin. I love that I can wear crop tops now. I love that I went down one Jean size from just removal of my skin. Hope my story helps those we are choosing to have a tummy tuck with Dr. Chung!Kcsunshine9November 22, 2021Wanted More Permanent Solution I am 56 years old. In the past, I had been fine with injectables now and then. In 2018, after a large weight loss from a cancer surgery, my skin just didn't bounce back. No amount of fillers were fixing the bulldog jowls, marionette lines and hooded, droopy eyes. Dr Lynn Chung had performed arm and thigh lifts on me in the previous months, so I asked her if she could do anything with my face. I had a full face and neck lift with fat transfer to my lips. It took a while to get used to my new look, especially the appearance of eyelids and higher eyebrows, but now I absolutely love my face again and I'm glad I had it done. The fat from the transfer didn't take and was dissipated after two months, and one side of my face wasnt pulled as tight as the other (leaving a slight marionette line); so I ended up paying another $2300 for fillers at the laser clinic and am now happy that everything is even.RoeOctober 25, 2021Can't say enough nice things about this place and the people in it. Thank you so much for taking care of all my needs and looking out after me.Hgantt32October 20, 2021I love how honest and thorough she was. My experience was amazing! From the first appt to the surgery I was not nervous at all! I had an issue at night once and Dr. Chung FaceTime me and checked it out. I love how honest and thorough she was.Cheerful592971September 28, 2021Non-surgical Rhinoplasty and Chin Augmentation My experience with Dr. Chung was excellent. She closely listened to my goals, and made thoughtful suggestions to enhance and perfect my end result. I have been deeply uncomfortable with my side profile for at least the last 12 years. I received a non-surgical rhinoplasty and chin augmentation with injectables with Dr. Chung at the Ambulatory Puyallup Surgicenter to balance my profile. I am ecstatic with my results and feel like a more confident and beautiful version of myself. Highly recommend Dr. Chung to anyone considering injectables.Megan HSeptember 15, 2021I’m writing this review for the person that is curious about having surgery to remove excess skin, fat or might need repair to their abdominal muscles. Please don’t be put off by the price tag because you can’t put one on your quality of life. I am a mother of 4. I had 4 c-sections, I’m 5’ 1” and have struggled with my body image for years. I honestly didn’t even think about how the repair to my abs would allow me to keep up with my everyday life without constant back pain from the pulling and separation of the muscles. I purely was interested because I just didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. Before I had my consultation with Dr. Ching I had one with a really popular plastic surgery establishment. They couldn’t get me in until next year and I almost gave up. Thankfully I have supportive people that encouraged me to keep looking. That’s when I found Dr. Chung’s office. Her reviews were great and they were scheduling way sooner. The consultants toon was amazing and I was treated with respect & dignity every step of the way. I also loved that she made sure I was doing this for myself and no one else. Surgery and recovery is subjective and to be honest it was comparative to having a c-section minus the baby but obviously your skin is going to feel tight. The first week was as to be expected, lots of rest. I am now 2 weeks post-op and I feel great! I am able to resume most activities. I will tell you that immediately after surgery waking up in recovery they helped me sit up and immediately felt the difference in my ab strength. You don’t know what is missing until you have it back! Dr. Chung has been amazing and is always patient, willing to answer any questions and is thorough. I would recommend her to anyone interested in a tummy tuck/abdominal repair surgery. I also had a breast tuck & lift. That recovery is easy leash. It’s mostly fat & tissue. If you are interested in bettering your quality of life, do it! You are so worth it and you deserve to feel & look your best. Exercise and healthy eating habits can only get you so far. Sometimes you need that extra help and that is nothing to feel shame or guilt about. Dr. Ching helped me change my life and I am eternally grateful.Fitmegs8September 15, 2021Dr. Ching helped me change my life I’m writing this review for the person that is curious about having surgery to remove excess skin, fat or might need repair to their abdominal muscles. I highly recommend Dr. Chung. You will not be disappointed!Sarah HJuly 19, 2021I would recommend Dr. Chung and her team to anyone that is considering having any physical changes. From my first appointment I knew this was a professional place that I would receive quality care and meet my expectations. When you enter they are very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Chung is thorough and explains in depth reality of your wants vs reality of your body and best outcomes. I was able to take my time and have true input while I was picking out the proper breast size I wanted. Pre surgery was smooth as butter as I had all of my medications ready and they were very thorough. The anesthesiologist came and spoke with me about what I could expect prior, during and after. I have an allergy to adhesives and they were able to accommodate that with no problem for healing and changed my post surgical to meet the needs of my personal healing. Surgery itself went without any concerns. I had my surgery on Wednesday of under the muscle saline implants and by Saturday I was able to go out with my family for the weekend for walking small trails and the tulip festival. I healed without any complications and feel the team with Dr. Chung did an amazing job pre surgery, during and post. I am now three months post surgery and feel very happy with my outcome. If I have any further cosmetic surgeries in the future I will definitely return back to Dr. Chung and her team.Meegone842June 18, 2021I will forever recommend her to everyone I know! Great! The next day I got a phone call and was in the office the next week. Walking into the office, was greeted by the friendly receptionist. Then we met with Stephany. She was great. I was really nervous. She put me at ease. Talked with me and made me feel comfortable. She took some pics and then came in Dr. Chung. She made the last bit of my nerves go away. Answered all of my question. Pros and cons for me and my body type. What would be a good fit for me. Also answered all my husband question and laughed at his "funny" jokes. Her whole staff made me feel safe and comfortable. When I met with Dr.Chung I knew right away she was my first choice! She spent an hour with me and my husband answering all of our questions. No other surgeon spent more than 15 minutes with me. She did an actual full exam and went over exactly where my incisions would be. I am currently 6 weeks post-op and couldn’t be happier with my results!Christopher HSeptember 4, 2020Dr Chung is a friendly, upfront, trustworthy plastic surgeon. I was pleased with the facial far transfer procedure that she performed. She's always happy to answer questions and insure that the patient's needs are met. Highly recommended.Kcsunshine9September 2, 2020Knows What She's Doing Before Dr Chung, I had two other skin removal procedures by two different doctors. This third procedure was a thigh lift, and I will soon be having a brachioplasty (a re-do/correction of a previous brachioplasty from a less-experienced doctor). I wish I had found Dr Chung's office first before the other doctors, but at least I found her now. I am most satisfied with her work. Updated on 2 Mar 2021: Very happy with result. In a few more months, I may have some laser treatments if the scars don't get lighter in color. (Or I may just wear capris all summer and save the money). Areas have filled-in a bit, but very nice space in between.Charming92820July 17, 2020Dr. Chung was amazing. Dr. Chung was amazing. My experience with Dr. Chung was nothing short of exceptional. The office is well-kept, and the staff is friendly and professional. I went to Dr. Chung because of the concerns I had with the bags under my eyes. Dr. Chung conducted a study of my facial features and discussed options I had-surgical and nonsurgical. I opted to have the dermal fillers instead of surgery. I received fillers in my cheeks and under my eyes. She explained the purpose of having fillers in my cheeks would help support under my eyes. The process itself was only slightly uncomfortable. It was as if I received a brand new face (in a good way) when she was done; the results were immediate. When I look back at some of my selfies and other photos from the past few years, it looked as if my face was falling. NOT NOW though! I'm three weeks post procedure and I no longer have the constant look of being tired. As far as bruising, it was minimal and easily covered with color corrector and concealer. Taking Arnica prior to and afterwards will be beneficial to speed the healing process. Be mindful that you may experience some swelling so don't have any major events planned for at least 48 hours afterwards.Joan SJune 14, 2019Recently had a breast reduction/lift done by Dr.Chung She is the nicest person . Her and her staff are extremely pleasant and very informative. I would with out a doubt recommend Dr. Chung for Botox. I have had injections at other clinics and have not been satisfied with many of them. Dr. Chung's recommendations gave me the results I was looking for in one visit. Their facility is a very clean and comfortable environment. I was very happy with my visit and will definitely return.Pattysue CSeptember 6, 2018DR Chung is a very caring and professional Doctor. Dr Chung is easy to talk to, very friendly, and takes the time to listen to what you want. Time from the first consultation to surgery was very quick. Recovery has been smooth and she was very clear in the instructions and restrictions for recovery. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional. The facilities are clean and comfortable. The price of surgery was also very competitive with other surgeons on top of all that.CamibyersMay 10, 2018Great experience- happy with results Such a great experience all around! Felt very comfortable with my doctor, welcomed by the staff members to surgery and anesthesia! Great experience overall and have recommended Dr Chung and Kierney to a few of my friends! My results are amazing and I'm so happy with the process I've gone through so far being 4 weeks post surgery. Thank you!!Leslie TNovember 30, 2017Wonderful staff, wonderful care, wonderful experience, wonderful results!Lucyto1May 4, 2017Excellent Experience with Non-surgical Nose Job I went to Dr. Chung for a non-surgical rhinoplasty and it was one of the easiest trips to a doctor I've ever had! She had same-day consultation and procedure available for this particular job, saving me both time and money, considering I live a fair distance away from her office. The entire thing from consultation to the end of the procedure took maybe 2 hours. So quick! She had me feeling at ease the entire time, too. This was the first plastic surgery procedure I've ever had done, even if it was very minor, and she talked me through everything from start to finish, answering all of the questions I had. It was obvious she really knew her stuff and is actually passionate about her work. She seems genuinely interested in the patients she works with, too. She held up a conversation the entire time, checking constantly to make sure I wasn't experiencing any pain or discomfort. I felt very relaxed and comfortable there. Her work itself is beautiful. She has an eye for proportions and managed to make the very severe dip in the bridge of my nose look quite nice without looking "done". Just be sure you talk to her extensively about the kind of look you're going for and keep in mind that non-surgical nose jobs can't fix everything! My nose, for example, still isn't perfectly straight. That just wouldn't be possible without actual rhinoplasty due to its shape. However, working within the abilities of filler, she was able to bring me the best possible result and I'm very happy with it. The overall atmosphere of her office is great, too. The front desk is very kind and helpful, aiding you from the moment you contact them about the possibility of an appointment all the way through scheduling follow-ups. The office is quaint, too! Overall, would absolutely recommend Dr. Chung for anyone looking to get a non-surgical nose job.CamerontsilvaOctober 12, 201525 Year Old Athletic Male, Minor Amounts of Fat in Lower Abdomen - San Francisco, CA After a strict year of dieting and exercise, there was that "stubborn" tummy fat just below the belly button that would not go away. Being so young and already in great shape (nowhere near overweight), I simply was tired of struggling to reach that last 5% of my goal of a 6-pack abdomen. I went to see Dr. Chung, and her warm, reassuring attitude immediately calmed me. She explained that what I wanted was definitely minor, but that if it weighed on me (which it had for a long time) and was causing anxiety that she would be happy to help. The surgery was easy, and the team who assisted her were wonderful. The recovery was more difficult than I imagined, but exactly what she had warned me about. The results are incredible and I would absolutely do it again. I literally have 6 abs and a flat, washboard tummy. I'm so thrilled with the results. I have been back to her office for various skin treatments such as microdermabrasion, and it is always a joy to see the every-smiling Dr. Chung!MustluvdogzJuly 21, 2015No More Bulbous Tip! I Now Have the Nose I Have Always Wanted! - San Francisco, CA Like everyone else on here, I was never fond of my nose. It wasn’t hideous, but the bulbous tip and over-arching of my nostrils had bothered me long enough that I finally decided to do something about it. I had my surgery done by Dr. Chung on June 25th, 2015 at Willow surgery center in San Francisco. Dr. Chung was so patient in answering all of questions and incredibly thorough in explaining my surgical plan to me. She did a lot of work on my nose! She broke my nasal bones to reduce the width, rasped down my dorsal hump, refined my bulbous tip by removing cartilage coupled with suturing techniques to narrow the tip, harvested cartilage from my septum to create alar rim grafts (to keep my nostrils from over-flaring when I smile), and a few other tweaks! All the while, she took every step to maintain the integrity of my nose (i.e. putting in cartilage grafts along the bridge of my nose to prevent it from collapsing). Safety and functionality were always her primary goals and she made sure I understood that. Surprisingly, I didn’t really have any pain after the surgery. Sure, it was uncomfortable having tubes up my nose and only breathing through my mouth for a week, but it was tolerable. I think because I was so well prepared by Dr. Chung that my recovery was easier than I anticipated (no surprises!). I’m now 4 weeks post-op and already loving my new nose. It’s still pretty swollen, but I’m seeing subtle improvements everyday. Dr. Chung delivered natural looking results that were tailored to my face. I’m so thankful for her surgical skill and exceptional care. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any of my friends or family.Niphere TJanuary 18, 2015To Lipo or Tummy Tuck, That is the Question. San Francisco, CA So, I stumbled upon RS in my search for information about my options of lipo vs. tummy tuck and couldn't be happier to have found this forum. Of course I started my earliest search on Yelp and my goodness, would a psychologist have a field day with the PS reviews found there. Even pre-op I can tell you that surgery WON'T fix your low self-esteem. So, with that snarky observation aside, I've found the majority of the reviews and posts here to be refreshingly honest about what people go through, what they expect to achieve, and how it all turns out. I'm 5'6" (ok, I'm 5'5 and 4/5ths) and am hanging steady at 170 lbs. I had my kids at 20 and 25 - so this ain't 'mommy weight'. Growing up, I had to work really hard to pass the 100 lb mark - then bam, kid #1. After that I was a healthy 120. Then bam, kid #2 and I found myself around 150-155. I've put on the extra 15-20 in the last 15 years for a few reasons: my husband is a phenomenal chef, I like my cocktails, I have a desk/travel job, and shortly after my second child I had thermal ablation (basically a hysterectomy without removing the organs). Although my husband always tells me how much he loves my body, I don't love my body. I hate that clothes don't fit. I hate how much skin/fat I can grab. I hate having to wear spanx to avoid looking like a slob. I hate having to wear grandma swimsuits. I just hate it. Hate, hate, hate. So here I am. I've interviewed two surgeons and have two more to go (hopefully no more.) Both have said that I can get good results with lipo, but that I'm also a candidate for TT. My biggest fear is that if I pick lipo, I'll be disappointed and just end up doing a TT down the road to take care of the skin. There's a scene in an Adam Sandler movie, Click, where he keeps gaining and loosing 100+ lbs at a time and they show his fold-over belly flaps. That's what I'm afraid of. On the other hand, the TT would take care of all of that, but it leaves a pretty big scar (which my husband is voting against - but he still says 'do what you think will make you happiest'). I also travel cross-country about every two weeks and I'd hate to have drains in or be miserable on a trip... Oh, and did I mention, I HATE asking for help - which makes TT recovery a challenge. Let's face it, cost is also a consideration (at least for me). Oddly, the first PS didn't have much of a difference between the two options, but was way higher on the lipo cost. It's all so confusing. PS #1 - Lipo of abdomen and flanks - $12,000 TT with lipo - $13,500 PS #2 - all surgery comes with a round of complementary dysport - how sweet. Lipo - abdomen only - $6,296 Lipo - abdomen and flanks $9,979 TT only (no lipo) - $10,706 TT with lipo - $13,203 These prices seem very high in general - but I attribute a great deal of that to the fact that I'm in San Francisco. But I'm still confused about the spread in prices. Hopefully the next two consults will establish a more reasonable average/baseline. My appointments are this Tuesday and Wednesday - so I hope to identify my PS, pick a strategy and get my surgery scheduled by Thursday or Friday. I'm sooo ready. Updated on 21 Jan 2015: As of this morning, I have completed my PS interviews. To continue from the previous post, and to address one of the things that I always search other posts for is the cost, so let's start there. PS #3 (Bonus of $250 of in office product/services if I book within a week of consult) Lipo - abdomen and flanks $9,200 TT & Lipo - $9,100 (yes, that's $100 less than the lipo) PS #4 was unapologetically 40 minutes late for my appointment - not a great start. Won't do lipo on me because s/he thinks I won't be happy with my skin TT & Lipo - $15,600 Based on synergy, skills and cost, I've narrowed my choice of surgeons down to two (PS 2 and PS 3). But I'm also still stuck between the two surgeries. I like the idea of a tummy tuck for its outcome, but am a bit concerned about the downtime and the aesthetic of the scar (perhaps a reason for another tattoo?) Lipo is appealing because of the mitigated downtime, but I worry that I won't get the results I could get with a TT and the possibly bad skin results (for roughly the same price...) My husband and I are heading out tonight to discuss the pros/cons of each and I hope to be calling one of the two surgeons for a surgery appointment by tomorrow! I'll post my before photos soon (it's daunting and will likely break my heart - but I owe it to everyone else whose posts have been helpful to me - I'm payin it forward, Ladies.) Any advice or suggestions to consider are welcome and appreciated. Updated on 23 Jan 2015: So, I've finally decided on my surgeon and my surgery. I'm going with a Tummy Tuck with limited lipo. I'm booking my appointment later today (can hardly wait for the office to open!) I have a hectic work travel schedule so I hope I'm able to get in fairly soon - otherwise it will be a long wait until I have a few travel-free weeks... I finally dealt with the humiliation of my 'before' photos. I know it will be worth it to have these when I can compare them to my 'after' photos. Updated on 26 Jan 2015: Now that I've made the commitment to a TT (deposit is in), I'm pretty much ready to have the surgery - like TODAY. I travel across country about every other week for work and have had problems finding three consecutive weeks without a trip. I'm hoping I can dodge two trips at the end of Feb. so I don't have to delay much longer. My husband and I had a date night this past weekend and I've always been frustrated trying to find a nice outfit that he will like but doesn't make me feel like a heffer (spanx help, but they sure aren't sexy.) This weekend seemed worse than usual because as I was looking at my dresses I kept thinking 'that one will look so much better post TT' or 'no way I'm touching that one until after the surgery.' I still have some X-mas money threatening to burn a whole in my pocket, but I refuse to buy anything while I still have my 'lake flaccid' belly. I'm hoping to have work issues fixed soon so I can update that mocking blank field for 'surgery date'. Updated on 26 Jan 2015: When I wrote my first review, I hadn't yet decided between a TT and just lipo - but here I am, TT it is. I tried to re-categorize my first review, but it wouldn't let me change the procedure type. Anyhow, I'll post here going forward. I'm hopeful that my accurate category will hope others who are on their way to the flat side. Updated on 27 Jan 2015: So, I'm the type of person who gets obsessed with projects. If it's a vacation 6 months away - I'll read every guidebook known to man. If it's a house move - I'll have every box pre-planned with inventory lists. I make lists. I make lists of my lists. I like to check things off. I HATE to hurry up and wait. My husband knows this about me and quietly smiles while he watches me go into super-over-planning mode. I'm trying not to let him see how obsessed I am with my surgery. He thinks I'm playing Trivia Crack (it's own brand of addiction) when I'm really trolling RS... I have my labs scheduled, my pre/post op book hasn't arrived yet, my husband does all the cooking anyway - so no need to prep/freeze meals, my bed/pillow/recliner/furniture situation is well under control and my countdown app says I have 1 month, 13 days, 1 hour and 17 minutes left to go.... I need a new hobby to fill all this time... Updated on 30 Jan 2015: So I thought I would feel more accomplished, ya know - one step closer to loosing Lake Flaccid (my belly) after I got clearance from my regular doctor (labs, general health approved for surgery, etc.). Unfortunately, all I got today was the blood draw (7 giant vials) - turns out that I have to go to another doc for the general clearance. Ah well, c'est la vie. So, to keep me occupied in the mean time, does anyone have anything that they found to be a miraculous remedy, expediter, or overall magic bullet that they couldn't have lived without? I've heard mention that a pre-op colonic is a life-saver? Yay? Nay? Read any good books lately? Need to stock my nightstand... I know my PS will supply a binder - but any suggestions on ones that were better than others? Thanks Ladies (and gents, too I suppose). Updated on 4 Feb 2015: I love my yoga - but ever since I've made my decision to move forward with my TT, I've grown increasingly impatient with my rolls that get in the way. I feel like I could go an extra 3-4 inches deeper into my stretches if my stupid belly didn't get in the way. I know I'm supposed to be focused on the benefits in my practice, but all I can focus on is how much better it will be post-TT. So much for being present in the moment. ha ha. Updated on 14 Feb 2015: My travel schedule jut got completely screwed so I have to delay by a week. I'm pretty bummed. I had my heart set on getting underway (I was actually hoping to have had my surgery on Feb 13, but again, work travel made that impossible). I have a big event to attend on April 18. My surgery is now March 20, I just hope I get through the swelling in time to really look ok. Updated on 4 Mar 2015: Just 16 days left. Money paid, prescriptions in, questions answered, now it's time to hurry up and wait. I can only imagine that two weeks from now I'll be going berserk - like a kid waiting for Christmas. Updated on 14 Mar 2015: So, as an obsessive person, I've literally had the countdown clock going since the end of January - but now surgery is less than a week away. I had done a pretty good job of putting this out of my head for a few weeks and now I feel like I'm a little behind (and I just narrowly escaped a last minute business trip that would have had me returning home near mid-night the night before my surgery). I have pretty much everything I need - just not all arranged, etc. so it's making me feel a wee bit unprepared. I have my prescriptions, I have all my post-op comfy items, my husband does all the cooking anyway (and he's an amazing chef - hence the need for a TT after 16+ years of eating his magnificent creations. He's already preparing a menu of comfort foods.), I've done all of the yard work - but still have to clean the house. I think my husband is more nervous about this than I am. Updated on 18 Mar 2015: Yes, 48 is the number of hours until I will be checking in for my surgery. 48 is also the number of times per minute that I can't wait for this to be done. It's the number of times per hour that I ask myself if this is the right thing to do. It's also the number of times my husband has asked me about what I want for my post-surgery menu and what I want for dinners before my surgery (I'm so very lucky!) Tick, tick, tick, tick. Good luck to everyone else out there! Updated on 19 Mar 2015: I have about 24 hours left to go. I'm nervous, excited, thrilled. I'm stuck at work all day (ironically talking about pre-surgery processes and no one knows I have surgery tomorrow) and ideas about small things I want to get done keep popping into my head. There's always another load of laundry to do, would love to get my brows done today, do I need another book in case I finish the one I'm reading now? It would have been nice to find a cute baggy dress to wear to and from (oh, let's be honest, I'm throwing on sweats). To stave off any doubts I have about this whole thing, I think I'll suffer the humiliation of a few more 'pre' photos so that I can be reminded (now and after) that this is worth it. I've found a few other RS-ers who have the same surgery tomorrow - good luck to us all! Updated on 20 Mar 2015: It's done, it's done, it's done! I was apparently under for 5 hours (silly me, I thought I'd be out of recovery after a total of 5 hours. Such an amazing team - they were all so kind and caring. I said thank you to all of them just before going under in case I was too doped up to do it afterward. I'm home now. I feel fairly lucid - but apparently have told the same story three times. My husband is amazing. In addition to chef, he has adopted the role of RN and chief of the visitor log (limited to my daughter and the dog at this point) :) I do have numbness in my fingers of my IV hand - might be related to the needle getting too close to the nerve. My drugged out research says it should subside on its own. I was pretty hard to get a good vein - not normally a problem, but with no water after midnight last nigth, I was dehydrated which made the veins a little less cooperative. I've been able to peak at the garment - but that's about it. My husband let me have my phone (but vowed to take it away if I wasn't resting) ;-) I've had no naseau, 4 saltines, two glasses of iced green tea, and walked around the house twice. In my hunched position i've been joking that I'm just checking to make sure the wood planks are all straigth. Ha ha. I'm sure none of this will make sense tomorrow - but I fee good now. i'm so glad I did this and I'm so lucky to have an amazing husband and great surgical team Thank you everyone and good luck, too! Updated on 22 Mar 2015: Well, close enough to 48 hours... I had my first post op appt.. yesterday and when Dr. C removed the binder I nearly cried (and not from pain). I couldn't believe how flat and smoot my stomach is. Holy Crap! It's amazing. She told me she got a lot of skin and fat and that my muscles had separated more than she thought. She said that she was really pleased with the muscle repair and in a few weeks we'll be able to see where my muscles are ... 'Like a six-pack'. Are you kidding me? As for moving around, it's both harder and easier than I thought it would be. Once I'm up, I'm like a little shuffling freight train. But getting up? Whoa. That's another story. For those of you who are still in prep - here are a few things. Get camping shower/towels - they're awesome. Don't be afraid to use your pain meds. It sucks if you get caught behind the pain. If your PS offers the 'pain pack' that's embedded during surgery - go for it! A cup with a lid and a bendy straw is your new best friend. Sleeping - we have both a recliner and a tempurpedic bed with the raise-able feet and head (geeky I know, but during these days, I love it). I gotta tell ya, at this point, I prefer to sleep in the recliner because it is easier to get up and down. Swinging your legs up onto a high bed will make you feel like you're the piece of meat that Rocky Balboa practiced on in Rocky (one). Drains. um, yeah - they suck as much as everyone says. Depending on where you pin them, they look like a second set of very saggy boobs. My PS said that they have to be producing less than 30ccs per day before she'll take them out. Hopefully by my second post-op this coming Friday. I'm really starting to look longingly at my shower - but I know I can't do that. In the mean time, I have my camping shower wipes, dry shampoo and maybe a blowout at DryBar (I say Dry Bar in particular because their sinks are going to be comfortable for my new, flat stomach muscles.) Hope everyone else out there is recovering well or surviving their countdown! Updated on 23 Mar 2015: I feel pretty darn good today. I slept in the recliner again, just because it's easier to get up when I need to. I feel bad, because it's my husband's go-to chair for sports and tv watching - but he's been great about it. We have a tempurpedic with the lifting feet and head, but it's up high and it's so hard to get out of bed. So today I've been working from home (double reading my emails to make sure I'm not sending any drug-induced missives.) My husband usually works from home but he ran out for errands. I used the opportunity to remove my binder and take another peak. Lots of swelling - but still so happy. I've managed to get most of the betadyne off, but haven't made much of a dent in my surgical magic marker yet. Once I got the binder back on, I hit the sink and washed my hair. Damn that felt good. Eating has not been much of a problem - my husband makes sure I get plenty of protein and comfort food. Now it's time for some lunch, a pain pill (and antibiotic) and then a drug-induced dreamy nap... Updated on 24 Mar 2015: Not much to report today. I was able to work again - which is great because I'm a consultant and no work = no pay. I have a full on work station all set up with my laptop, ipad, phone with headphones and everything I need to be productive. I'm all about the high fiber, miralax, and just about to down some prune juice just to get all these drugs out of my system. My muscles are quite tight today. I've been doing my shuffling train routine around the house (even up and down stairs for some laundry). I can feel my muscles working in a good way for most of the day. I find that they are more sore and tighter closer to the expiration of my pain meds (duh). I tried to cut the pain meds down to 1/2 a pill every six hours instead of a full pill. Wasn't quite as successful as I had hoped. Will try again tomorrow. My drains are getting better. Almost zero overnight, but then back up to 25/side today. Bummer. I was hoping to plead my case for early removal. Friday is still a good goal. Good luck everyone who is coming up and happy recovery to those who are on the flat side. Updated on 26 Mar 2015: Well, a for a few of you ladies, today is YOUR big day. Congratulations and best of luck for a speedy and easy recovery! As for me, not much has changed. I have my second post-op appt. with my surgeon tomorrow (Please remove my octopus grenades!). I've been scooting around the house (up & down the stairs to do one load of laundry/day, go out to the garden for some sunshine) etc. I'm back to my regular eating (so done with eggs and toast for awhile.) I'm switching over from the percocet to Tylenol - with just one perco at night for better sleeping. Drains are continuing to diminish in output (again - out tomorrow, PLEASE!). Today is actually a big day, I get to leave the house! My husband and I are going to the car wash (who knew I'd ever be excited about that) and then some lunch. It will be my first adventure out of the house since surgery except for my 15-minute post op appointment last Saturday! YES! My husband is convinced that my PS said that I can't take my binder off for even a moment until my next appointment - so, given that he has been so patient, protective and attentive, I won't argue - but I can't wait to see what's going on. It will be like one of the old black and white movies where the patient's new face is revealed when the bandages are removed. I want photos and a shower, please! Updated on 27 Mar 2015: One drain down - yee haw! I get to shower tomorrow even with one drain left (water proofing over the last drain). I get to drive now (because I'm off my percocet, but still have to be careful). I have to stay on my antibiotics until the last drain is removed - even though the pills taste like toasted ass crack, it's a small price to pay to prevent sepsis. My back and stomach muscles clinch up a lot - I thought it was a lack of electrolytes - but my PS said that would be systemic (all muscles) and that my body was just compensating... Ah well, practice makes perfect. I get to loosen my binder and wash it (thank the Lord!) I can be binder-less for up to one hour twice a day - but like most others - I've become a bit dependent on it. At the very least I will be wearing my spanx while my binder spins clean. Tomorrow I get my third straight day with an outing from the house - my daughter needs a dress for a black-tie event and I really want a pedicure. (I thought it would be a good idea to remove my toe nail polish for the surgery/anesthesiologist) I was wrong. I don't think that I can handle the jostling of the mall - so we're starting with a small boutique or two. I still love my afternoon naps. Good luck everyone. Updated on 29 Mar 2015: I'm a shopper. I am. Unabashedly. I love to shop. I haven't bought clothes for myself since Christmas. Not even shoes. I have Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket.... So, despite my claim that I wouldn't do it, I did take my daughter to the mall yesterday. We mapped out my scooting route (still supposed to walk hunched over - and I'm not sure that I could avoid it if I wanted to) and attacked our four key spots. She needs a dress and it was so much fun that I didn't even think about all the fun I'll have when I'm ready to shop for me! My stamina held up pretty well, but my muscles were screaming by the time we headed back to the car. My muscles were so tight for the rest of the night, they felt really hard, too. I'm not sure if that's just the normal reaction, or if that's what stomach muscles are supposed to feel like - it's been so long since mine were present. Ah well, takin it easy today - watching some tv and doing some work. I am actually going in to the office tomorrow! Yippee! The only modification will be a later start time. I usually go in around 6am, but my husband doesn't want me walking downtown in the dark alone and all hunched over because he thinks I'd be a target for a mugging. Smart and thoughtful man. Take it easy everyone and have a flat day! Updated on 31 Mar 2015: Yesterday, 9 days post TT, I returned to working in my office. It was great to be back in my normal routine and to banish the stir-crazy feeling of house arrest. But man, did I ever get swollen. I figured that since I have a desk job and that because I was permanently lounging while at home, that nothing much would change. Gaaah! My stomach was pretty much rock-hard and swollen by about 1:00. I stuck it out until 3:00 and called it a day. I went home, put my feet up for a little relief. I get into a pretty solid groove while at work so I figured that I'd set alarms today to make myself get up and 'walk' (Yoda-shuffle is more like it) around the building. We'll see if that helps. Has anyone had lymphatic massage? If so, what did you find the benefits to be and how soon after surgery did you start? I still have one drain in - it put out nearly 50 units yesterday, so it looks like I might have it awhile longer... Have a flat day, my friends. Updated on 1 Apr 2015: First off, I love my PS - she's so on top of everything! I had my second follow-up today and left with one grenade tentacle still attached. My output remains at a range of 25-50 twice a day so it's clearly still doing a lot of work. She said to start checking just once a day so that I'm not over engaging the suction unnecessarily. She also told me to continue to take it easy. She also said that the last drain couldn't stay too long because of the increased risk of infection. So, I'm keepin it extra clean and staying really mellow... I'm supposed to continue to Yoda walk until Friday - exactly two weeks post-op. I asked her about lymphatic massage and said a few interesting things: 1. It's too early for me (stitches & tape still present) 2. Research is divided in re: efficacy following a tummy tuck (lipo is a different story) 3. When I'm ready she suggested maybe giving it a try because at the worst, it feels pretty darn good. So - that's it for today. I'll try to get some updated photos soon. PS - still have my dang surgical marker outlines. Anyone have any suggestions? Updated on 2 Apr 2015: I'm still in my Yoda hunch - and still swollen - but incredibly better than the before pictures. Updated on 5 Apr 2015: Crappity, crap, crap. I got my last drain out on Friday (hallelujah). I admit I'm probably doing more than I should be, but the area above and below my incision is rock hard and my left hip (where the second drain just came out) is really lumpy. At this point, I have little choice on my activity level, and am trying to keep it as low as possible, but not much can be done there. I lounge and ice as much as possible and my tongue is going numb from all of the pineapple (rumored to reduce swelling because of its bromelian content.) Both of my kids are here and the laughter is pretty much non-stop. Could the laughter be a contributing factor? On a completely unrelated note, I have a black tie event in two weeks and tried on some of my dresses - I can make one work, which is good news. The weird thing is that I am hesitant to try on any of my jeans. It's not just fear of incision proximity, I'm kinda weird about how they're going to fit...... I guess it's time to grow a pair and just go for it. Any good news will be reported soon. Updated on 9 Apr 2015: So, my husband was gone for about 5 days. When he left I was still bent way over and could handle maybe 2-3 hours out at a time. He got back yesterday and I'm walking nearly normal (less Yoda, more teenager with bad posture.) This morning he saw me getting out of the shower and it was the first time he's seen me with no binder, tank top or sweats since my first post op visit. He was shocked and awed. All the right compliments at all the right times. Great, great man! As for my general recovery, all is going fairly well. I haven't had to travel yet (next week will be my first trip since before the surgery), but I did have my team in town for a conference here. No airplanes for me, but meetings from 8-5 followed by dinners until 9pm each night. I ducked out for about an hour each day to snooze in my car on the qt. I didn't feel like I needed to do it, but by the end of each night I was glad that I had. I still have a lot of swelling above and below my incision. I'm hoping that starts to resolve sooner rather than later, but I fully accept that it could take months. As for growing a pair and trying on my pants/jeans, I finally did it! I have some Joe's Jeans with lots of stretch and those were awesome. I have some jeans that feel better than others, but they are all better than pre-surgery even over my binder. The funny thing is how much higher they all are in the front. I hadn't realized how much lower they had to be to accommodate my belly bubble. I'm looking forward to even more improvement as time goes by. Hope everyone else is on the mend and feeling flat and gorgeous. Updated on 12 Apr 2015: Updated on 12 Apr 2015: So I added some photos from 20 days post, I went to my PS 21 days post and am finally writing this update 23 days post. Overall, I feel great. I'm fairly pleased with my results at 20 days post, but as it turns out, I have quite a bid of fluid accumulation above my scar (which means I'll look even better once that's gone!). I got one drain removed at 7 days post and the second one at 14 days post - even though it was still putting out a healthy amount of fluid (25-40 over 24 hours.) My (amazing) surgeon decided to take the second one out at 14 days post because the output was decreasing and the risk of infection increases as time goes on. I'm all for avoiding infection and I'm confident she/we did the right thing. So - this fluid hangin out in my belly really is like a waterbed. I hadn't really noticed it because I only take my binder off for showers and to wash it. But, when I lie down, you can poke one side of my stomach and it sort of waves like a waterbed or the ocean. My doc tried to aspirate it in office, but nothing came out (and she wasn't shy about trying - but it didn't hurt a bit). We're not doing anything further about it now and we'll check back in next Friday (28 days post). I do have to travel this week (6.5 hours of flying on Tuesday followed by a business dinner, work all day Wednesday and then 7.5 hours of flying to get home Wednesday night - yuck). My doc said to add a layer of spanx to my compression garment and not lift my suitcase. Thank goodness for upgrades, too. Apparently, the fluid is a cellular response from shearing (this makes a lot of sense to those of us in earthquake zones) but basically the friction of movement stimulates the cells to create/release fluid. Please forgive me if this is not biologically accurate, I'm not a PhD and haven't taken any life sciences since I was 15. In any case, I'm supposed to take it as easy as possible to reduce the shearing/friction. So, today equals one trip to Target and then crocheting my ass to the couch and maybe working from home tomorrow. Hopefully, these details will help anyone else having the same problem. Happy Masters Sunday, everyone. Updated on 15 Apr 2015: So, although I would have preferred not to travel, life goes on and so must we. I had a cross country flight on Tuesday and now, on Wednesday, I'm traversing back home. 14 hours of flight time, 11 hours of meetings all in less than 48 hours. Ugh. I hate these trips even when I'm not recovering from being sawed in half. I think I did a pretty good job standing up straighter until this afternoon when my skin and my stomach just got super tight and dragged me back down to Yoda level. My stomach feels tight and the fluid from earlier in the week is still present. I'm working from home the next two days and hope that will reduce any additional fluid build up from 'shearing'. As for some good news, my PS said I should add some spanx to my binder regimen during travel and that seems to have gone well. I thought it would be suffocating, but it actually felt supportive instead. I might adopt this for a more daily routine, too... I have another appointment with my surgeon on Friday. Maybe another shot at aspirating the fluid. If I forgot to mention that I got my external stitches out last week - most of my stitches were internal - self dissolving. I think I have one stitch still in my belly button (which I think will be great, by the way) - have to ask about that one on Friday. Stay flat my friends. Updated on 19 Apr 2015: So, today being Sunday, I slept in and lounged about in bed for awhile. My skin was itchy so I took my binder off for a bit. As I laid back down and looked down, I saw something I haven't seen since my first pregnancy 20 years ago: my stomach actually dipped down like a valley below my ribs. Hale-freakin-lujeah! Last night we went to a black tie event and I was so excited to wear sexy under-things and not have to hide behind layers and layers of spanx. I also got to pick a dress that I never would have picked just two months ago. Oh - and I danced. Just one song, but left it all on the floor for Gloria Gaynor... I won't lie. I was kind of sad that I didn't get to pick a smaller size, but the way it fit sure made me feel good. I had my 4 week follow up with my surgeon on Friday - I can start exercising in 10-14 days but anything with hard-core ab/core work has to wait until week 8 (oh, like I was super sad about that). I can do 'light' yoga, but not my normal vinyasa classes - that was a bummer. Now that I can get back to an exercise program (soon), I need to find a new routine. I love yoga, but I think I need to kick it up a notch. I'm thinkin cross-fit? I like swimming, but I don't have a good, convenient pool/team. i do ok at the gym, but then I just start slowly slacking off. Any recommendations? I started my scar therapy - it's a silicone treatment (I forgot the name, but it's the only FDA approved silicone scar treatment.) Honestly, I don't care about the FDA angle, my PS recommended it, I trust her, so I'm using it. End of story. I have some little 'knobs' where my drains were, but my PS said that they would start to resolve themselves as I continued to stand up straighter. She's been spot-on about everything so far, so I'm not worried. And if they don't resolve to my satisfaction, she will take care of them in the office. On a separate note, my skin under my binder is really dry - like seriously flakey, peeling after a sunburn-dry. I've been wearing my binder both with and without a tank underneath trying to figure our which is better, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Cheers! Updated on 4 May 2015: i think these pix are from 5 weeks post op. Updated on 4 May 2015: It's been awhile since I've posted an update and I was really curious to create a before and after montage for my own excitement. Yay. I'm still excited with my results. I have dropped 8-10 pounds since the day before surgery. I never did ask my surgeon how much she took out, so I don't know what's from what. But I don't care how it's gone - it's gone. My dress size hasn't changed, but my confidence is up about 2,000% and that's way better than a dress size or two. I still have swelling and don't have to wear my binder anymore but I do continue to rock a medium layer of spanx - it just feels better. All in all, I couldn't be luckier to have afforded the surgery and the time to recover. Updated on 26 May 2015: I got to go to my first yoga class this past weekend. I took a Yin class - which was a nice way to ease back into things - mostly stretching and such. When I really settled in to my forward fold and seated forward fold, I was so happy to notice that it was no longer my belly that got it my way - it was my boobs. Ha ha ha. Helped me to find my Zen really fast! Stay flat my friends.HugochanDecember 22, 2014A Much Need Breast Fix! San Francisco, CA Dr. Chung is always professional but she is also warm. She took special care to ask about my concerns, address those concerns, and make sure that I understood the procedures that would take place. Her bedside manner is caring and she is quite efficient in a hospital setting. I have continued to see her on a regular basis for non-surgical procedures and she is just as efficient in this part of her practice as she is in the operating room. I met with other doctors but Dr. Chung was the only one with an authentic, down to earth approach who did not try to oversell herself to me. I am pleased with the results and I recommend her over and over.IfwisheswerefishesNovember 5, 2014Blepharoplasty (Double Eyelid Surgery) - San Francisco, CA In general, I was having a difficult time finding a skilled surgeon in the Bay area to do my blepharoplasty, which was necessary for medical conditions. For example, the surgeon that I found at a well known institute had not done it on someone my age before and only did the surgery once a month. I was being very specific in what I was looking for - not only did I want my medical condition corrected, but I wanted something aesthetically pleasing because I originally have monolids. I'm so delighted that I found Dr. Chung, who has extensive experience in both of these areas. Not only does she have a great deal of experience (especially on Asian patients), she was incredibly patient and explained everything to me. I was extremely nervous and particular about what I wanted, and Dr. Chung was more than accomodating. She made it clear that she wanted me to be comfortable and a part all of the decisions...and I was! I truly could not have received a better experience and doctor. She was always available, including post procedure, to answer questions that I had about the healing process. I've healed perfectly and am very happy with the final results. I completely recommend her to all of my friends and family. As a bonus, she has fantastic office staff who are friendly and incredibly accommodating, even when I had to move my surgery dates around multiple times.MustluvdogzAugust 25, 2014No More Pockmarks! Loving my Juvederm Results - San Francisco, CA I had several pockmarks that had developed on my face as a result from a long battle with cystic acne. These divots and dents left my complexion looking uneven and less than desirable. I finally decided to have Dr. Chung treat the depressed areas of my face with Juvederm, and I am so thankful that I did! It's as though a magic eraser has been waved over my face. My complexion is smoother and more even than it has been in years. The best part? The results are instant! She even added a touch of Juvederm to the bridge of my nose to balance out a small bump I had, giving me a nice, smooth profile. My results are incredible. The procedure didn't hurt at all and I had zero bruising. I have also been treated with Botox by Dr. Chung, and my results were equally as amazing. She really is an artist with the injectables.AnonypleaseMay 15, 2014Male Breast Reduction for a 36 Year-old Male - San Francisco, CA I am thrilled with the results from Dr. Chung. She has been fantastic to work with. This wasn't an easy thing to admit that I needed or say that I wanted to do. Her staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend Dr. Chung to anyone who wants a friendly, helpful Dr. that gets results you're very happy with.DhennyJanuary 26, 2014I'd Lost Alot of Weight - New York In my opinion , Dr. Chung is one of the most talented Plastic Surgeons in the country . I came to her a 60 year old man with plenty of facial flaws to be repaired . I had what's so unfaltering refer d to as a Turkey Neck , a Protruding Far-head , Baggy Under Eyes , and more minor facial issues . I'm a perfectionist ; so all these imperfections , well , they made me unhappy ; as specially with the way , people would perceive me . In my youth I was quite a handsome man . I was on the stage , I tried making myself , as flawless as possible , because of all the attention I received . But then as an older man in my fifties the imperfections were getting more defined . I was getting bummed ; not clinically depressed , but not happy ; as specially when I looked at the old man in the mirror. (he wasn't me) Any way I went to Dr. Chung for a consultation about my flabby neck ; she took some pictures and we disgusted my neck and other flaws like my far-head . I said to her , I didn't have the money for my bone structure to be ground down ; and she said ; that's not what 's causing it to look that way; you have extra skin in your Brow ; a brow lift would fix that . And she said and while were at it ; lets tighten up under your eyes a little . Anyway to make a long story short , Dr Chung took the face of a sixty year old man and with her skill as plastic surgeon turned it into the face of a forty something year old man I'm so pleased and happy now . Live is good again ! Yours Truly , Donald HennyLoad more
