Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction is performed at our practice to remove 5 to 10 lbs of fat from “trouble areas.” These can include: Stomach, Upper arms, Thighs, Butocks, Knees/ankles, and/or Under the Chin.
Liposuction is a relatively simple procedure in which fat is removed from the body via a hollow, stainless steel instrument called a cannula. A small incision is made and the tube is inserted and guided through the tissue to loosen and remove fat deposits. Bleeding is minimized through the use of epinephrine which contracts blood vessels and a liquid anesthesia aids in pain control.
Liposuction can be an amazing weight loss tool, however it’s important to remember that the optimal time to undergo this procedure is when you are at a stable weight. When fat cells are removed from the body completely it may mean that future dramatic weight gain may not distribute evenly and therefore diminish the results of your procedure.
Liposuction Recovery
We make it a priority to support you during your recovery. Dr. Chung believes in ensuring that her patients feel informed and empowered about their after care.
After liposuction, most patients will be able to return to work in a couple days. It’s normal to feel tender and sore, however Dr. Chung will prescribe pain medication to manage any discomfort.
It’s important to note that with liposuction, the final results of your procedure may not be fully evident until six months later. Though most patients usually note a dramatic change as soon as the swelling subsides. To learn more about liposuction, contact our office today for more information.
