Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures to return a mother’s body back to her pre-baby look. Breast Enhancement, liposuction, tummy tucks, and labiaplasty (if needed) are generally part of a Mommy Makeover Procedure. Contact Dr. Lynn Chung today to see if a Mommy Makeover is right for you.

Mommy Makeover Procedure

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery increases the size of the breasts through the use of saline or silicone gel implants. Since individual patient goals vary, breast augmentation offers a variety of breast implant sizes and incision placement options.

There are many factors to consider before breast implant surgery that will help you determine which procedure is best for you. During your consultation with Dr. Chung, you will discuss your goals and expectations for breast augmentation. Dr. Chung will be able to demonstrate what you will look like with various-sized implants so that you can make an informed decision. It is important to remember that the more you increase from your original cup size, the less natural your breasts will appear in proportion to your body.

Saline and silicone implants are the two options available to you, and each has relative advantages and disadvantages. It is important to carefully weigh your options and discuss this with Dr. Chung before making your final decision.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery restores the breasts to a younger and “perkier” appearance by removing excess skin, lifting the nipple, and tightening the surrounding tissue. To further enhance the overall appearance of the breasts, this procedure can be performed in combination with breast implants.

Liposuction

The basic concept of liposuction is fairly simple. A hollow, slender stainless steel tube called a cannula is inserted through a small incision and massaged through the tissue to loosen the fat deposits. This is generally combined with liquid anesthetic, and an epinephrine compound to contract blood vessels to minimize bleeding. The loosened fat is then removed from the body with suction.

As fat cells are physically removed from the body, it is important to understand that this is permanent. Your body only has so many fat cells which can expand or retract with weight gain or loss. If you’re at a stable weight, removing fat cells carefully can be an effective means to sculpt parts of the body. Bear in mind though that if weight is gained, there will not be the proportionate fat cells in the area to enlarge. This can result in irregular proportions as added weight will distribute unevenly.

Liposuction will not remove more than 5 to 10 pounds of fat. However, as the actual fat cells are removed, the change to your appearance is much more drastic than with physical weight loss through diet and exercise.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, restores a smooth, toned appearance to the abdomen. This procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten weakened or separated muscles, creating a smoother and firmer tummy.

A tummy tuck typically involves a horizontal incision below the abdomen and just above the pubic area. As a result, a scar at the bikini line will be permanent, though it will fade with time and is generally unseen with most underwear or swimsuits.

Dr. Chung's Philosophy
