Lower Body Lift

A belt lipectomy, is the technical term for a lower body lift. Many patients opt for a lower body lift after weight- loss surgery, such as gastric bypass or lap band, to remove extra skin that persists despite the large amount of weight lost. In a lower body lift with Dr. Chung the shape of the abdomen, buttocks, and lateral thighs is improved by tightening the muscles, and lifting or reducing excess skin.

Lower Body Lift Procedure

A 6-8 hour body contouring procedure, a lower body lift produces dramatic results. Surgeries which make up a lower body lift are: tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), a lateral thigh lift, and a buttock lift. Additionally excess fat and skin are deleted from your waist and hips.

Patients Dr. Chung considers ideal for surgery may have had a dramatic weight loss, but are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about their surgery. A lower body lift is several procedures performed at once, therefore it requires an overnight stay, and it is typically performed in a hospital or our outpatient surgery center.

Lower Body Lift Recovery

Many patients will stay overnight in a hospital or outpatient surgery center, following this procedure. Surgical areas are typically wrapped in elastic bandages or compression garments these work to decrease swelling and asisst the skin in conforming to your new shape.

We make it a priority to support you during your recovery. Dr. Chung believes in ensuring that her patients feel informed and empowered about their after care. Be prepared to visit Dr. Chung for multiple follow ups visits to ensure that tyour progression is on track. There will betubes placed during the operation for drainage and thesed are typically removed 1-2 weeks post surgery.

Most patients are able to resume most normal activities a week or so after surgery, and movement is encouraged as soon as possible to speed the healing process by increasing circulation. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for some time, however most patients can return to normal activity with in 2-3 weeks

Dr. Chung's Philosophy

Plastic surgery is a very personal decision and can get overwhelming at times to sort through options that are currently available. As a fellowship trained aesthetic plastic surgeon, I have the knowledge and experience to guide patients during this process. My goal is to listen, understand your objectives, and advise you in selecting a procedure that is right for you. As a woman surgeon, I am compassionate, warm, and honest. You will leave educated and confident that the end result will be beautiful and natural, not overdone.

I truly believe that to be a successful aesthetic plastic surgeon, one has to become the patient’s lifelong aesthetic provider. From non-invasive procedures to surgery, our journey begins together.
