A Note from Dr. Chung

Published on July 9, 2014

I am excited to report that the demand for mastopexy grew twice the rate of breast augmentation since 2000 according to recent reports from the National Clearinghouse for Plastic Surgery Statistics. A mastopexy is a procedure where the breast is lifted to counter the effect of aging, weight gain/ loss, or pregnancy. The procedure is preformed under general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. There are several ways by which the breast can be lifted based on the patient’s anatomy. A lift can be performed through an incision on the top half of the nipple, an incision around the nipple, a lollipop incision, or an anchor incision. An implant can also be used to augment the volume of the breast. Typical recovery is 1-2 weeks and the patient can return to full activity usually in 3 weeks. Frequently done as part of our ‘Mommy Makeover’ surgical package, it is also a great standalone procedure. Come in and see if you are an ideal surgical candidate for this life changing surgery
